2-hour workshop, maximum 12 participants

(This workshop is for kids 4-12 years. At least one parent must accompany your child/children. Registration is for parents and children. Kids 3 and under will not be charged but send me a note to let me know how many extra babies/kids you are bringing.)

Are your kids interested in plants, nature, and/or natural medicine? Join Delena Rose at her cabin on the northwest shore of Pigeon Lake for an introduction to foraging and Wild Plant Medicine. In our time together you will learn:

  • What is wild plant medicine?
  • A respectful approach to working with plants
  • Some common but powerful medicinal wild plants that grow right here in our backyards (live and dried plants will be available for kids to touch and smell)
  • Parts of plants that we harvest for medicine (bud, leaf, root, flower, berry)
  • What you'll need when you go out foraging
  • How to stay safe when you're out foraging
  • Three basic medicines you can make with plants at home: tea, tinctures and poultices

This will be a "show-and-tell" style of presentation. If weather permits this will be held outside. Participants will get hands-on experience handling plants and foraging equipment. We will make a fresh medicine tea together and sample another pre-made herbal tea. Child participants will receive a hand-out reviewing what we learned in the workshop. Parents/caregivers will receive a hand-out with more information on the plants and medicines, and recommendations for further activities and learning. Everyone will receive a homemade lip balm (valued at $5).

Participants are welcome to visit the chickens, geese, rabbit and goats (we have babies!) after the workshop.

Register here. If you prefer to pay at the workshop, choose "COD cash on delivery" at the payment option.
