Did you know that cinnamon has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties and is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases? Did you know that cloves are used to treat obesity, diabetes and cancer? Did you know that rosemary is used to boost memory or treat depression? That cilantro can help remove heavy metals from the body? And that sage and thyme have powerful anti-viral properties and can help you finally get over that lingering cold?

In fact, many of the common spices we use every day have been used for thousands of years as medicine in the treatment of disorders and diseases.

In this workshop we will discover the amazing healing benefits of the herbs and spices that are probably sitting right there in your kitchen cupboard. These include basil, black pepper, cayenne, cilantro, cinnamon, clove, coriander seed, cumin, dill, garlic, ginger, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme, and turmeric. Together, we will look at their healing properties as well as how to prepare and use each herb/spice as medicine.

Come sample herbal drinks (infusions & decoction), herbal ice cubes, a herbal butter, culinary vinegar, infused oils, infused honey, herbal syrup, pesto, herbal salts, salve, tinctures, poultice, and herbal compresses.

You will also make a sage-thyme tincture (for cold and flu—valued at $20), a dry marinade spice mix (valued at $12), and receive a cayenne salve (my gift to you, valued at $15).
