Enjoy an hour-long plant walk focused on identifying the edible and medicinal wild plants that grow right here in central Alberta. Tips and instructions on foraging and making your own medicine with wild plants, including teas (infusions and decoctions), tinctures, infused oils, poultices and compresses) with roots, leaves, flowers, berries, bark, resin and mushrooms. Finally, explore various ways to incorporate edible and medicinal wild plants in your daily life.

- Plant walk, wild medicine-gathering and safe foraging tips

Instruction and demonstration
- Brief introduction to preparing basic medicines: teas (infusions/decoctions), tinctures, extracts, infused oils, compresses and poultices
- Acute and chronic dosages, including treating children and the elderly
- Medicine-making: make a “Wild Green” nutritive tincture and “Wild Tea” blend (valued at $32)

Please dress for the weather. In case of heavy rain and/or thunderstorms, we will have a Plant Talk (instead of a Plant Walk) indoors, and I will harvest fresh plants beforehand for medicine-making.

Instructor: Delena Rose Tsang, B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Ed, Certified Herbalist
Delena has been studying natural health and herbology, making plant medicine, and creating and selling her own natural body and home care products for over 15 years. Her practice is guided by her Indigenous (Metis) culture and scientific background (biology, botany, plant intelligence, and ecology). As an educator, Delena loves spending time with people on her land, in her garden, and in her kitchen.
