Kitchen Cupboard Medicine
Aromatics: Discovering and Using the Medicine in Your Spice Cabinet
Did you know that cinnamon has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties and is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases? Did you know that cloves are used to treat obesity, diabetes and cancer? Did you know that rosemary is used to boost memory or treat depression? …that cilantro can help remove heavy metals from the body? …and that sage and thyme have powerful anti-viral properties and can help you finally get over that lingering cold? In fact, many of the common spices we use every day have been used for thousands of years as medicine to treat disorders and diseases.
In this workshop, we will discover the amazing healing benefits of the herbs and spices that are sitting right there in your kitchen cupboard. These include basil, black pepper, cayenne, cilantro, cinnamon, clove, coriander seed, cumin, dill, garlic, ginger, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme, turmeric, and many more. Together, we will look at the healing properties of each herb and how to prepare and use each herb/spice as medicine.
